Wearing ethnic, traditional and colorful outfits for occasions bring us to wearing and selecting a combination of gemstone jewelry. The yellow metal forms a major part of jewellery designs but for adding color to your jewelry there  are different gemstones available that will match to your outfit and occasion.
Green emeralds, red rubies, pink blue , yellow  from tournamlines to topaz and quartz we  have a variety of stones , semi precious and precious. each unique, beautiful and different color.
Gemstones have  always represented abundance and royalty. As the price of gemstones, especially precious ones in carats, comes  to quite a sum,  they are symbolized as a status symbol among elite.
Every colored gemstone has its own symbolism.
Where red rubies stone is symbolized to attract fame and energy the other blue and turquoise one helps in spiritual peace and protection from evil forces, then the yellow for the stomach related ailments and sexual chakra healing. The purple amethysts usually worn by healers and beneficial for the star sign Aquarius is another beautiful gemstone
Tips to Buy Jewellery in a combination of gemstones and which stones to avoid-
When we see gemstone jewellery we usually go by the look and design and buy it.
This may not always go with our outfit for the occasion. Choose a combination of colored stones that you can wear at different occasions and not just one.  Expensive jewellery that can be worn on different outfits and occasions is a better choice.
For western wear pure diamonds go along with any outfit but with zari work in golden color  they may not look good. Single color gemstone jewellery will be used sparingly as with a few colored outfits only, red rubies, turquoise and blue stones.
Traditional Indian outfits and sarees with zari work, zardosi, embellishments and sequins, every where diamonds go well.Gold jewellery studded with gemstones also goes quite well, as in a combination of green and red stones with golden base, as most of the traditional wear is based in red.
The combination of turquoise and white, dark blue and white, purple and white is another hot one in jewellery today as outfits and clothes ranging from pastel shades and chiffons draped sarees go very well with these color gemstones along with diamonds.
Children are often seen wearing more of gold with tiny rubies or pearls.
Men who would shy away from jewellery are now seen flaunting gemstone rings and pendants, following many Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities,  for healing and good luck.

Selecting a combination in one piece do consider your personal choice of colors and tastes. If you are not comfortable do not go in for combination jewellery as usually such jewellery pieces are bold and call for attention fast in any place or function.
A sober simple approach would be to select diamonds  as base  with one other color gemstones. And for more drama  and style statements select a combination of bold colors and large fancy jewellery pieces.
Avoid all black stones as they will not go along with many outfits. Only red or only blue single color stones also will go with only specific outfits  only and may be lying in your jewellery box.
The combination of gemstone jewellery is quite a rage among teens and young ladies. With funky jewellery pieces and different forms of wearing the traditional jewellery has brought gemstones in the open and we are loving it!
Also do consider your birth stone by referring a birth stone chart and use your gemstones for benefits. Read about ill luck and which stones go well together and which to avoid, and then choose a combination of gemstones in your jewelry.

Tips for Choosing Gemstones Kamar Band Girdles Mekhala Hip Ornament symbolism of Kamar Band

Hip ornament  highlighting your beautiful curves is a piece of traditional jewellery carried till today with grace,  the hip band or kamar band. A kamar band has history of Gods and Goddesses   wearing kamar bands as a piece of jewellery along with other pieces. Kings and queens wore kamar bands  and this pieces of jewellery seen even today as  a style statement when ladies with smart curves and shapely waist wear this ornament. This kamar band was a large piece of chain or ornament that went all along the waist and was hooked to the dress or saree near the waist.
Kamar Band Hip Ornament
Kamar meaning loins and Band meaning to hold is a  beautiful  large piece of chain that decorates the waist. This piece of jewellery falls nearly in the centre of your body and its function is to hold the saree in place. The piece of gold or silver kamar band helps heal the sexual chakra or the  manipura chakra which corresponds with the color yellow.
Initially the kamar band piece of jewellery came into existence to hold the heavy saree , clothing worn by Godesses , Gods , Kings and Queens. The purpose of kamar band was to keep the robe in place in that style it was worn as, just like a saree is pinned this piece of jewellery worn to highlight the waist as well as hold the costume together in place.
Stone studded kamar bands look very good made in gold or silver. Traditionally the kamar band was an ornament used to hold key chains, the whole house and safe box keys and usually was transferred from mother in law to daughter in laws after marriage of their sons. This kamar bands have symbolic meaning representing transfer of responsibilities and power.
Kamar bands  are now decorated with gemstones and drop patterns and pearls. Traditionally these were flat gold or silver bands consisting of chains and now we see quiet many variations in the kamar band ornament designs.
Half kamar bands, sleek kamar bands and single chain kamar bands can go along with any attire and work as belts for formal dresses and long flowy skirts. Gemstone studded kamar bands also go with traditional salwar kameez dress and formal knee length dresses. The purpose today of wearing kamar bands is not just for any traditional reason but they have made their place as an style statement in fashion jewellery designs and worn by celebrities and famous people.
Choosing gemstone kamar band follow some simple tips-
1) Do not go in for heavy stones and many colored gemstones while you are on the heavier side on waist and hips. Select simple semi precious gemstones first and then go in for multi colored stones in designs of your ornaments as they must not clash with your heavy dress , saree or any outfit.
2) Choose a simple sleek  kamar band or go in for half side kamar band. Chains, beaded or single line metal kamar band goes well for heavy waist line and thicker broad patterns, multi chains,  in kamar band can go well for the beautiful slim curvaceous curves.
3) If you have never worn a kamar band go in for cheaper one first instead of investing in costly gold or silver metal kamar band as this piece of jewellery is not comfortable for everyone.
4) Wear light weight metal kamar band as you do not want to increase your weight look. Silver goes off well as compared to gold for heavier bulk on waist. Always select sleek designs for the graceful look.
5) If you have a handed over heavy work kamar band with many colored gemstones and beads and multi layered  then  go in for plain silks or dresses that will highlight this beautiful piece of jewellery.
6) When you also wish to wear the key chain made of metal try to secure the kamar band well with your saree as the weight of the band is quite some and along with the keychain and keys it become more.

7) Store kamar bands separately as the multi chains ones gets entangled easily with other ornaments and there is risk of breaking.
Now today we see funky kamar bands worn on formal dresses and skirts as well as salwar kameez as belts. Necklaces also can be worn as kamar bands in different style as also the payal or anklet can perform the same function as another piece of modification in   this jewellery. Sterling silver kamar bands studded with stones, colored minakari work, and many metals beads also form a new piece of jewellery the funky stylish kamar band.

The multi layered har or many chains necklace, often handed over from generations with heavy gold or silver metal work  can also be worn sometimes as the kamar band so that you can wear the same ornament in different styles on different occasions. But do remember if you have a slim curve wear a kamar band as this will make you the centre of attention, but  just in case  you are heavy downside wear this ornament with caution, as this will take all eyes to the body part you don’t want them to focus on!

Naak Phul or Nose Pin Ring Symbolism and Types of Gemstone Studded Nose Pins

Naak phul or the nose ring a simple small piece of ornament that is worn as studs by piercing the skin on sides on the nose. Traditional nose pins were not  limited  to size and we all know the nathni  or nath of the Marathi culture. The big pearl and stone studded nath of the Muslim culture is also quite famous as an ornate piece of jewellery.
The symbolism of wearing a nath was that the women wearing this were married and belonged to a male and was not available for marriage. Usually Bringing nose pin and putting this jewellery also projected that the lady was selected as a mate partner for marriage. In Marathi culture the mujra walis or dancers from dance groups also were gifted nath from rich business men or lords and this symbolized they were booked by these rich men to perform for them only and not available for others. While these rich men provided for support and expenses of these dancers it was a symbol of  honor among the group provided for them.
Nose ring gold
The nath was worn by married women during marriage rituals or functions and festivals along with the nav vari, 9 yards,  saree. Even today this beautiful piece of jewellery exists, though in many different  forms and designs. Traditionally this beautiful piece of jewellery consisted of gold metal studded with pearls and precious gemstones, especially red rubies. You will still see these big nose pins with our grandmas who have special  sentiments attached with these nose pins, as these were carried along generation after generation and handed over as family heirloom jewellery.
Muslim culture nath were  beautiful with pearls and gemstones. Queens wore gold nath and this was an important part of the jewellery of any bride. While Rekha has worn traditional jewellery as a dancer in the film Mukkadar Ka Sikandar opposite Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai has again flaunted the traditional Muslim Libas, Anarkali dress worn in Hindi movie Umrao Jaan and the traditional nath, these ornaments have taken a special place in the Muslim culture.  These were rings large enough of size of bangles studded with gemstones and pearls. This heavy piece was connected with a chain of gold with droplets of gold, gemstones or pearls to the back of  the ear hair  or the ear rings with a hook.

Funky nose pins now rule  our jewellery boxes from diamonds to rubies, pearls  and the reasonably priced American diamonds. With the simple small single gold or silver ring worn around as nose pin looks quite cool and also highlights the face, there are also nose pins that have fancy motifs and floral designs on the top. These may have images of flowers, elephants, peacocks  or other mythological motifs.
Latest we hear modifications in nose pins are just about any ear ring  that is funky or stone studded can be singly worn as a nose pin. Go in for light weight nose pins as we do not want a nose skin tear by wearing heavy jewellery and the skin around the nose is delicate and soft.
Ladies even wear stickers or jewel studded disposable nose pins that are stuck as stickers which can be worn and thrown after every use, great idea for   those who do not want to invest in a nose pin or just want to try out the look of their face wearing a nose pin. Nose pins having gold or silver studded with white diamond is the most common form of nose pin, which varies with larger patterns and designs having small and tiny diamonds with two or more multi colored stones nose pins.
Nose pins sure highlights the face and brightens and accentuates the facial tone. Even a single piece of traditional motif jewellery, a nose pin is sufficient to be the centre of attention. Wear bold designs in light weight nose pins and do away with heavy chokers and earrings. Be careful while selecting traditional heavy gold nose rings and in case you wish to wear this piece of jewellery in your marriage do wear it, try it, many times before the final occasion, you do not want people to see a swollen big red nose  the next morning!
